Mexico was not consulted in U.S. designation of cartels as terrorist organizations

MEXICO CITY (Reuters) – Mexico’s President Claudia Sheinbaum said on Thursday that her government was not consulted by the United States in its decision to designate Mexican cartels terrorist organizations.

The United States on Wednesday designated the Sinaloa Cartel and other drug cartels as global terrorist organizations, according to a Federal Register notice, a move that comes as President Donald Trump steps up immigration enforcement against alleged gang members in the U.S.
