DARWIN TOWNSHIP Ill., (WTWO/WAWV) — Darwin Township Supervisor Todd Kirby confirmed Saturday that weather conditions have caused the historic Darwin Ferry to wash downstream.
He said the ferry loosened and washed a half mile south down the Wabash River and capsized in the middle.
Kirby recently said the ferry’s location is
causing the river’s natural flow to change.
The Illinois and Indiana Department of Natural Resources have been advised of the ferry’s capsizing.
