ISU President Deborah Curtis made the announcement at the end of the event that included a fireside chat with Curtis and Holcomb at the Hulman Memorial Student Union.
“I want to thank Gov. Holcomb for coming to campus and supporting this project–the third Habitat for Humanity home sponsored by Indiana State University,” Curtis said. “Community service is ingrained in our institution’s culture and curriculum. It’s just another way we are distinct. Our graduates take that ethic of service to others and make an impact on communities all over the state of Indiana.”
Groundbreaking for the Habitat for Humanity home at 1511 S. 13 1/2 St. in Terre Haute was held in August.
Volunteers from the university are building the home for Dahlia Manalaysay and her two daughters, AJ and Ainsley. Manalaysay is accuring her time toward Habitat’s required 250 hours of “sweat equity” at the Wabash Valley Habitat ReStore.
“This project will also provide valuable hands-one experience for our students in preparation for their professional careers in construction management and other fields.”
