Bucshon toured Joink, LLC in Terre Haute to learn more about how the internet provider is helping those who work and live in West Central Indiana.
Bucshon serves on the House Committee of Energy and Commerce where he is also a member of the Subcommittee on Digital Commerce. He said expanding high speed internet access to rural areas is a “front-burner” issue in Washington.
“Trying to figure out a way that the federal government can help get internet service to everyone, these guys do a great job in the area that they service,” said Bucshon. “And so I wanted to come out and talk to them about what issues are affecting them.”
Joink officials said reliable access to the internet could solve many issues.
“Good connectivity can solve a lot of problems with health care and homework and students and that kind of thing,” said Jackie McDonald, Joink, LLC vice president of operations. “So we’re very passionate about what we can do to bring high speed connectivity to rural, what I consider rural Indiana.”
