President Curtis used her address to not only speak about the recent successes of ISU but she also discussed what the university needs to do as it looks to the future.
The word impact was one that Curtis used throughout her address.
Curtis says ISU currently has a 95 percent placement rate for employment, military service, or graduate school, which is up 1 percent from last year.
Curtis also highlighted that ISU is ranked 194th out of over 1,300 colleges in a CollegeNet’s Social Mobility Index.
It’s makes the school #1 in the state of Indiana in this category.
Curtis says this shows that ISU is impacting the future success of their students.
“We started with the impact we have on students lives but when 7 out of 10 of them stay in the state, work and live, raise their families and engage in their communities, it’s a huge state impact,” Curtis said.
Curtis also spoke about the impact that ISU has on the Terre Haute community.
She says in the last decade the school created more than 4,600 jobs for local contractors.
Curtis says ISU wants to improve its enrollment and retention rates.
She called on the crowd during her address to assist the school in these efforts.
