WEST TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — West Vigo Elementary students will switch schools for the day Friday following an
evacuation
Thursday.
Students began complaining of having a cough and eye irritation Thursday afternoon, prompting school officials to call emergency personnel and evacuate the building. Once outside, symptoms began to dissipate.
No cause of the irritation has been determined at this time. Vectren, West Terre Haute Fire Department, and facilities staff have run tests with no answers.
More tests will be conducted over the weekend.
Friday’s schedule will go as follows:
- Walkers will walk to West Vigo Elementary and board a shuttle bus to Sugar Creek Consolidated. They will be shuttled back to West Vigo Elementary at the end of school.
- Car riders should be dropped off and picked up at Consolidated, including all preschool students.
- Bus riders will be picked up and dropped off as normal, but will be taken straight to Consolidated.
