The Terre Haute Parks Department is workignto upgrade Brittlebank Park.
Park officials wouldl ike to add six new pickleball courts, totalling 12, add additional parking and restrooms.
This expansion would cost over 400,000 dollars.
This afternoon the Parks Board held a special meeting to dicuss a grant application for the federally funded land and water conservation fund, to help pay for the expansion.
Members of the pickleball club believe the expansion could bring in more players and improve the community.
“It’d just help us in, well even in just regular play because we probably got people that would come out and there would be 70 people out there,” said Pickleball Club member Rex Lawler. “Well it’s kinda hard to do it on six courts. But this way we can hold maybe a few more tournaments and we can handle a lot more competition out there.”
