DAVIESS COUNTY, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) – Indiana State Police confirmed one female is dead following a fiery crash on I-69 in Daviess County Wednesday night.
Heather Niemeier, 43, of Evansville, died as a result of drowning “second to the violent initial crash impact,” according to ISP.
The Washington Times-Herald reportd that around 9 p.m. a vehicle went down an embankment between Washington and Plainville.
The vehicle was fully engulfed.
The name of the deceased has not been released pending an autopsy.
The scene was cleared around 12:17 a.m. Thursday, with all lanes of traffic reopened.
According to the Indiana State Police Jasper Post, more information will be available sometime Thursday or Friday.
