SULLIVAN, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV ) – A phenomenon known as “Moose Lake” in Sullivan will soon be a thing of the past.
A project is underway to fix the water drainage issue on Depot Street near the Moose Lodge.
Crews are installing new catch basins that will carry water west to County Road 25 where it will run into a drainage ditch.
A member of the Moose Lodge says he’s happy to see the project underway.
“Cars would come over that railroad track and really hit it. They wouldn’t realize it. I figured someone was going to have a wreck one of these days, hydroplaning in that water because it went all the way through. Pretty big deal,” says Terry Ashba.
The city of Sullivan and the Sullivan County Redevelopment Commission are splitting the $65,000 cost of the project.
Officials estimate it will take about two weeks to get done.
