TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) – An actor who starred in an Oscar-winning movie will deliver the commencement address Saturday at Indiana State University.
Actor, comedian, writer and producer Mike Hatton is this year’s alumni speaker for the ceremonies.
He most recently starred in the film “Green Book”. It won Best Picture at the 91st Academy Awards.
Hatton says it’s great to be back at ISU, a place he says was very influential on his career.
Hatton says his message to students Saturday will be to surround yourself with people who love you.
“I really feel like having a support system in place of people who actually care about you is so important because I know when I left Indiana State, that I was very afraid. I knew what I wanted to do, but I didn’t know how to do it. It was the people in my life who gave me that support system and the courage to go after it,” says Hatton.
He graduated from ISU in 2002. On Friday, he spent time touring campus, meeting students, faculty and staff.
