TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) – Sugar Grove Elementary School held a Fun Run for Star Wars Day Saturday.
Around 100 students signed up for the event, which featured a Star Wars themed obstacle course with Jedi walks and a journey through the Death Star.
PTO Officer Djanedi Cardwell says the event, which raises money for the PTO, and allows for students to have some weekend fun at their school.
“It’s important not only as a fundraiser for the PTO that allows us to do some great events and future projects for the school, but it also gets the kids together, let’s them know that school’s a fun place, even outside of the regular Monday through Friday,” said Cardwell.
Cardwell says this is the first May the Fourth Fun Run at the school, and the PTO didn’t have a monetary goal for the fundraiser, but rather wanted to see if the event itself was a success, which they feel it was.
