Authorities arrived on scene June 15th to find a fire in the women’s bathroom.
They said the individuals clogged the toilet with paper and then set the paper on fire, shattering the ceramic bowl. Authorities said this along with the concession stands were hit by the vandals. Vice president and planning administrator Janet McClellan said the damages have put a strain on their already tight budget.
She said the concessions, which she runs for the park board, were under a pile of dust and debris from a fire extinguisher being used by the vandals. As a response to the damages, the park has installed a security system. Marv Moon was there Thursday to insure the installation happened.
Both Moon and McClellan said hopefully the new security will prevent this from happening again in the future.
