TERRE HAUTE, Ind., (WTWO/WAWV) — Efforts to re-open the Vigo Co. YMCA pool remain underway.
Earlier this year, the city of Terre Haute finalized a two-year lease agreement with the YMCA in order to re-open the pool. Crews filled the pool with water earlier this month.
Cindi Monds, Branch Director, said the pool will allow them to meet the needs of all their members.
“I think it will help with our membership. It will also help the community at large,” Monds said. “We have senior citizens that have been waiting for the pool to open because that’s the only form of exercise that they can do. It’s really good for their joints and their overall health. We can teach children how to swim again, which helps with water safety in the summer.”
The pool is expected to re-open in January.
