TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — What started out as a physical altercation between two men Monday night ended in gun violence.
Terre Haute police responded to a reported shooting in the 1000 block of North 8th Street. They found Lewis Johnson, 48, and been in a fight with another man when he ran inside a nearby residence to get a gun.
Johnson fired four shots at the victim, striking him in the foot.
The victim was transported to a local hospital where he was treated for non-life threatening injuries.
Johnson was charged with aggravated battery and possession of a firearm by a serious violent felon. He was transported to the Vigo County Jail where he is being held without bond.
Johnson was convicted in 2015 of felony battery by means of a deadly weapon after pleading guilty but mentally ill.
