It took place at ‘Lunch with the Governor’ hosted by the Terre Haute Chamber of Commerce.
“It’s really a huge honor to have Governor Holcomb here today and along with his entire cabinet, as well as Lt. Governor Suzanne Crouch. But more than it just being an honor, I think it’s really a recognition of what Terre Haute, Vigo County, West Central Indiana is doing right,” said Terre Haute Chamber of Commerce President Kristin Craig.

The governor’s plans, called the 2020 Next Level Agenda , focuses on five pillars: Indiana’s economy, a strong work force, public health, government service, and infrastructure.
He said one area he’s addressing is the stretch of Interstate 70, leading though Terre Haute. A stretch of the interstate where multiple crashes have happened.
“We’ll also be looking at additional ways leading into 2021, what we can put forward. Including how we slow traffic down. Could be signage, could be vehicle presence, could be trooper presence,” he said.
The governor’s visit created an opportunity for local officials to collaborate with state cabinet members.
“What Terre Haute is doing is putting their best foot forward on so many fronts, working together as a community. That’s why it’s so exciting for me to see all the cabinet officials who were with me today that are having one off meetings with community leaders after this lunch,” the governor said.
It was also a chance for Terre Haute to be seen at the state level.
“We had news agencies here from around the state, we had individuals here from around the state. And they’re going to be looking at each other going ‘ha, look at that. Terre Haute, that was the site of that roll out,’ so it’s a huge recognition and honor for our entire area,” said Craig.
The 2020 legislative session will begin January 6.
