TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) – Tuesday, Happiness Bag and Senior Education Ministries hosted a teddy bear picnic.
The event allowed the community to donate new or gently used teddy bears.
Organizers say over 200 teddy bears were collected.
The bears will be given to local dementia and Alzheimers units by friends at Happiness Bag.
Those in charge of the event say the picnic is about giving to those who are often forgotten.
“Especially being the holiday time when we have a lot of seniors in their homes feeling lonely, they don’t have their friends or family to come visit them. And to receive a little gift, I think it will just bring so much joy to everyone,” said Anna Sheckler, Senior Education Ministries intern.
Sheckler says if you would like to donate more teddy bears they can be collected at Happiness Bag.
