TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — Locals may have noticed Deming Park getting in the holiday spirit.
Several non-profit organizations are decorating shelters for Christmas in the Park.
Christmas in the Park has been an annual event for 33 years.
This weekend, many organizations were out decorating their shelters with lights and creative Christmas decorations. Each display as a charity they donate to.
Christmas in the Park kicks off Monday with a firework display, pictures with Santa, and a Candy Cane Hunt.
One local resident, Steve Butwin, says he looks forward to the joy decorating a shelter does for the community.
“We commend the Park Department and all the sponsors for everything that they do, because this is really a wonderful thing for the community. But, we’re making a display and hopefully people can enjoy as they drive by in the Christmas in the Park,” Butwin said.
The ceremonial lighting of the shelters begins Monday at 6 p.m. in front of the Torner Center.
Christmas in the Park takes place from December 2nd until December 27th.
