HYMERA, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — The Wabash Valley may not be anywhere near the sea, but in Hymera, seafood is always the main dish at the 37th annual Seafood Festival.
The festival includes a morning run, followed by a community parade, and then tractor pulls for all ages.
Musical groups perform at the annual event, and a craft market is set up for attendees to visit. But the main draw is the Jonah Fish, clams, and shrimp served to attendees.
Hymera is a town of less than 1000 people and the Seafood Festival is a display of the close ties shared by its community members.
“We’re a very close knit community around here, we like to enjoy each others company, and we also do everything we can to try to help each other out. That’s just part of it, that if we have a neighbor in need, we just step in and help as best we can,” said Hymera Ruritan Club President Ann Case.
The Ruritan Club sponsors the Seafood Festival.
