TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — Following an investigation into an apartment fire in Terre Haure Monday afternoon, authorities have ruled it accidental.
Fire investigator Matt Holbert said wiring in the origin area of the fire at 50 South 29th Street was found to be overheated.

Arson was initially suspected after someone reported hearing a “boom” and saw someone run out of the back of one of the buildings. That person of interest was found and questioned.
Fire Chief Jeff Fisher said there were multiple people inside of the living complex when the fire started, but everyone got out. One person was put on oxygen for minor smoke inhalation.

There living complex is divided into two separate buildings with four apartments in each building. Severe damage was done to one of the buildings and some minor damage was done to the other.
Chief Fisher said he’s not sure how many people will be displaced because of the fire.
Fire crews were being monitored while working in the hot weather. One fire fighter was checked for vitals, another stepped on a nail, but is OK, according to Chief Fisher.
