During a press conference held Saturday evening, Owen County Prosecutor Benjamin Kim was asked if his office would charge the juvenile person of interest allegedly involved in the shooting as an adult. He indicated that he will have an answer to that question after his office has reviewed the case.
“We will make that decision after all of the facts and the evidence that the officers are gathering have come into our office,” Kim said. “Right now, I would decline to make any public statements as far as any type of charges or how we will proceed in that manner.”
OCSO reported that its deputies received assistance from Indiana State Police, the Morgan County Sheriff’s Office, the Bloomington Police Department and other Owen County emergency response agencies during their investigation.
“Although this is a tragic event, and our hearts and prayers go out to the family and the victims, it is heartwarming to see law enforcement officers and public servants come together for the good of the people,” White said. “And that’s what we had here today. All these agencies, and many of these officers on their day off, came, called and offered their assistance for us and for our community. I want to thank those officers and those agencies for going above and beyond for our people.”
