TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — A fire in Terre Haute over the weekend claimed the lives of two dogs and injured two individuals, according to fire officials.
Firefighters were dispatched to a residential structure fire at 1916 3rd Ave on Saturday morning. Upon arrival, firefighters reported seeing heavy smoke coming from the rear of the residence.
According to the Terre Haute Fire Department, two people inside the home were taken to a local hospital for burns on their extremities. Their condition is unknown at this time.
Two dogs were also killed during the fire. Another dog was saved and is currently being housed by a local animal shelter.
The fire department said it is unsure if the property is salvageable.
