ROSEDALE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — A death investigation is underway in Parke County following a disturbance at an apartment complex.
Authorities responded to a call Thursday afternoon of a 57-year-old man causing a disturbance at the Rose Valley Apartment Complex in Rosedale. A town marshal responded to the scene and determined the man was mentally unstable. He requested additional assistance.
When officers attempted to detain the man, he went into physical distress. According to authorities, first aid was immediately administered and EMS was contacted.
The man was pronounced dead at the scene by the Parke County Coroner’s Office, and Indiana State Police were called in to complete the death investigation.
An autopsy with Dr. Roland Kohr was been scheduled for 3 p.m. Friday, at Terre Haute Regional Hospital. At that time, a positive identification is expected to be made, as well as other information to the cause and manner of death.
According to state police, death investigations can take several weeks or months to complete dependent on the complexity of the investigation and review of the final autopsy and toxicology reports.
The ongoing investigation is being conducted by Indiana State Police detectives Don Curtis, Mike Featherling, and Jason Schoffstall, with the assistance of Crime Scene Investigator Jim Cody of the Putnamville State Police Post. Parke County Coroner’s Office is also assisting in the investigation.
Once the investigation is
complete, it will be submitted to the Parke County Prosecutor’s office for
review and action, as deemed appropriate by that office.
