TERRE HAUTE Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — Two months after a man was
mistakenly released from the Vigo County Jail, he is back in custody.
Gregg Shepherd was walking down the street in Bethlehem, Georgia a
few days ago when a deputy stopped to check on him. Once authorities
ran his name, they saw he was wanted out of Vigo County.
According to Vigo County Sheriff John Plasse, Shepherd is being
held at the Barrow County Jail in Georgia. Local authorities will
pick him up Saturday to return him to the area.
Shepherd had been ordered detained on pending charges of criminal
confinement, battery and theft. He will not face any additional
charges as his release was a mistake.
