TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — The Vigo County YMCA and Why Make Waves partnered together for a cookies and canvas painting fundraising event.
The fundraising event was held to raise money for expenses as the YMCA opens the YMCA pool.
Locals were invited to the Vigo County YMCA to show their creativity for the fall fundraising event that was held on Saturday.
Linda Lou Rodgers instructed the participants that were painting using Bob Ross style.
“This pool means life for everyone. Children will learn to swim. Adults will learn to swim, because they would be offered lessons. Us gray-hairs will have a place that we can exercise. It is joining together in a safe place,” Rodgers said.
Cookies were available for purchase at the event.
There is still no official opening date for the pool. However, Mayor Duke Bennett has said it should be ready around the first of December.
All proceeds from the event were shared between the Y and Why Make Waves.
