TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — Community members were invited to Climbing Cafe to help raise donations for the Vigo County Search and Rescue Dog Teams on Saturday.
The donations and supplies that were raised went to those who feed and train the dogs to help find missing individuals.
The event also focused on how search and rescue works and what individuals should do if they get lost.
“You don’t really see them until there’s an emergency. A loved one … and elderly parent that wanders off … a kid that runs away in the cold … maybe somebody has a car crash and they have a concussion. Or a hunter gets disoriented and we don’t have things to keep us … like mountains to know where we are. So, it’s easy to get lost and they’re the ones we call to go get them,” Sam Morgan, Owner of Climbing Cafe, said.
The Search and Rescue Team are always looking for volunteers. This includes individuals who will act as a missing person during training sessions.
