VERMILLION COUNTY (WTWO/WAWV) — Local police assisted in arresting a 25-year-old Chicago man after State police were led on a pursuit reaching miles up to 130 mph.
According to a release from Indiana State Police, a vehicle was seen speeding at 90 mph in a 60 mph zone southbound along State Road 63 near County Road 50 North at around 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, March 7. An Indiana State Trooper pulled the driver, later identified as Justyn Culotta, over near County Road 150 South. When the Trooper got out of the vehicle to talk with Culotta, he sped away and a pursuit began.
The release notes that Culotta headed northbound on State Road 63, reaching speeds of 130 mph, before cutting through a median and then heading southbound on SR 63 near County Road 1550 North. The release reports that Culotta’s vehicle, a Chevy Cruze, began to have mechanical problems shortly after and came to a stop.
The Indiana State Trooper, along with deputies with the Vermillion County Sheriff’s Department, performed a felony traffic stop and took Culotta and the passengers into custody for possession of drugs and drug paraphernalia without further incident. Culotta was arrested and taken to the Vermillion County Jail.

- Resisting Law Enforcement with a Vehicle, Level 6 Felony
- Reckless Driving, Class A Misdemeanor
- Operator Never Licensed, Class A Misdemeanor
