TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — Terre Haute Mayor Brandon Sakbun has provided an update on how the team of Harvard students has been working with city officials over the past week.
Earlier it was learned that a trio of Harvard Kennedy grad students would be coming to the town as part of Harvard’s Transition Term program. The program provides students to governments experiencing a changeover in leadership.
The trio are assisting the Sakbun administration as it takes control of the city.
In the past week, the Harvard team has been meeting with local leaders, residents, and business owners. Wednesday, they met with students in the Vigo County CEO program.
The goal is to create recommendations on how Terre Haute can attract more young people to the city.
“A lot of the discussion that’s being had today, the insights that they are giving to the Harvard team, I think will help guide the efforts of the community and the city as we move forward especially through Mayor Sakbun’s transition,” Director of Community Engagement with the Terre Haute Chamber of Commerce Josh Alsip said.
The Harvard students will be here through January 17, the partnership comes at no cost to the city.
