According to co-organizer Jennifer Mullen, the beautification project in the historic Twelve Points area of Terre Haute has been in the works for years.
But in the last few months, the initiative has grown with the help of groups of local college and high school students.
On Saturday, dozens of football players from Terre Haute North, Terre Haute South, and West Vigo High School were out among other community members.
Mullen says changes have already been noticed by the public.
“I’ve been getting a lot of private messages from people I don’t even know thanking the group and thanking all the volunteers that are coming out and shoveling the sidewalks that haven’t seen the light of day in probably 10 years, and I don’t mean to offend anybody, but there’s been some neglect and just some TLC can make this historic place amazing again,” said Mullen.
Wizard Soft Wash also helped out with some free soft washings on Saturday.
