TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — After strong winds and stormy weather caused the closure of parks throughout the city of Terre Haute over the weekend, three parks have been able to reopen.
According to Terre Haute Parks’ Director of Recreation Kilie Smith, Fairbanks, Maple Avenue, and Rea Park are now open to the public including the Rea Park Golf Course.
The opening of Fairbanks will allow the 4th of July celebration to proceed as planned at 8 p.m. on Tuesday, July 4. The Fairbanks firework show is scheduled to begin at dusk, or approximately 10 p.m.
As of noon Monday, all other city parks, including the Hulman Links Golf Course remain closed due to storm damage.
“Please proceed with caution around all parks as we work to clear storm damage and make repairs,” Smith said.
Once fallen power lines have been removed and power is restored, other parks will be reopened.
