LINTON, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) – One of the biggest Fourth of July parades is right around the corner, and local organizers said they’ve been preparing since last year.
The Linton Fourth of July Parade is one of the largest in Indiana and brings thousands to the town each year.
“It’s something that puts us on the map. You’ll like Linton, and I think our hospitality shows that day,” Cheryl Hamilton, the executive director of the Linton-Stockton Chamber of Commerce, said.
Not only is this a staple in the Linton community, but it also gives a big boost to their local businesses.
“Linton truly does have Christmas in July. There have been times our [businesses] have told us July 4 will outsell Thanksgiving or Christmas,” Hamilton said.
Hamilton said the theme for this year’s parade is “Winning Spirit in Indiana”.
“We’re really thrilled that this year Meek Financial Services and Frye Towing are sponsoring, from the movie Hoosiers, the Hickory Huskers bus. We’re really excited that we’re going to have that in the parade this year, we’re putting our high school basketball team in that vehicle,” Hamilton said.
Hamilton said you can also expect other floats, bands, clowns and queens.
The road closes at 8:45 a.m. and the parade begins at 10 which should last between one and a half to two hours.
Folks wishing to see the parade, but unable to travel to Linton can do so live here on MyWabashValley.com as well as on TV on WTWO.
