CENTER POINT, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) – A utility company is helping big cats in the Wabash Valley.
About 45 Duke Energy employees volunteered at the Exotic Feline Rescue in Center Point on Friday.
The crews worked on maintenance of the cats’ enclosures. They also prepared runner packets for the Run Thru the Jungle 5-K, which is a fundraiser for the rescue center.
This project is part of Duke Energy in Action and is one of their most unique volunteer events.
“This is something that our volunteers look forward to every year. This is our second year and I think there is definitely demand to come back and do it more. When they come out, they bring their families later and some of them are longterm volunteers that are here. Even aside from Duke projects, they volunteer on their own here,” says Marvin Blade with Duke Energy.
Duke Energy will actually have more volunteers at the rescue center in the coming days.
