PARIS, Ill. (WTWO/WAWV) – Customers were lined up outside of Betty Jane’s Kitchen at 6:30 a.m. Saturday morning for a fundraiser benefitting Isaac Staub, a local man fighting kidney failure, and his family.
Betty Jane’s ‘Donut Days’ are normally a popular event in Paris, but Saturday the crowd was particularly large due to the cause.
At the time our WTWO crew arrived, they had already sold over 800 donuts and still had a line of customers.
Co-owner Robin Trapp says she isn’t surprised by the generosity of the community, especially since Isaac and his wife Lacey are such deserving recipients of the donations.
“Lacey’s one of our employees here and she’s now working three jobs and they’re living with her parents and so we felt like he may not be back to work for awhile and that they could use the money,” said Trapp.
