BEDFORD, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — A Bedford man disregarded several traffic laws and led police on a short scooter chase before being arrested on felony drug charges.
An Indiana State Police Trooper noticed 55-year-old James Sykes driving a scooter in the Bedford area, making multiple lane changes without signaling and disregarding a red light.
When the trooper tried to pull Sykes over, he refused to stop. According to authorities, Sykes threw a small bag from his scooter during the short chase. The chase ended when the scooter overturned.
When police looked inside the discarded bag, they found around 7 grams of methamphetamine along with heroin and pills. Sykes was also in possession of several hundred dollars, authorities said.
He was booked into the Lawrence County Jail on several charges including dealing methamphetamine, dealing heroin and resisting law enforcement.
