The man, identified as James Hand, left Hutsonville, Illinois Sunday in a canoe, and headed downstream on the Wabash River. He was reported missing after not returning home for several hours.
According to Chief Deputy Douglas Slater of the Crawford County Sheriff’s Department, his canoe was found on an embankment in Russleville, Ind. with a campsite nearby.
Authorities were able to locate Hand in Oaktown.
