“We’re putting in a road back to the property that we have purchased for the jail site,” Commissioner Brad Anderson said.
Anderson explained the road is necessary to allow access for equipment needed on site.
While construction is underway, it will be a long process before the new jail is complete.
“Right now, we are just at the mercy of the weather,” Anderson said. “And, as soon as the weather breaks in the spring, we’ll start full strength in getting things going.”
Once the access road is complete, crews will begin working on sewer lines, drainage and other utilities. Anderson noted that it will be at least a year before construction begins on the building itself.
Officials are estimating the project will be completed sometime in 2022.
