SULLIVAN, Ind.(WTWO/WAWV) – New details have been released in the case of a missing Sullivan County woman who’s body was discovered Thursday.
Danny Wilson Jr. and Renee S. Huffines are facing charges related to the murder of Patricia Dorsett who was reported missing Saturday by family and friends.
“I think he might have done it,” Huffines reportedly told police. “If he did, he did it for me.”
According to court documents, Huffines moved from the Indianapolis area around the first of the month to live with Dorsett and help her around the house. Wilson later moved in as well to help Dorsett with property left to her by her deceased brother, Mike Dunn.
Dorsett was last seen by friends and neighbors on Wednesday, May 22. According to statements by Huffines, the two women smoked drugs together Tuesday, May 21 before getting into an argument. Huffines then left to stay the night with a friend.
She later told Wilson about the fight, and he reportedly made the comment that he “could get rid of her.”
When Huffines returned to the residence the following day, she said Wilson told her Dorsett was dead. Court documents state that Huffines glanced over at the couch and saw what could have been the body wrapped in a blanket.
Huffines said she did not see the body moved, but did hear a lawnmower in the back yard.
After Dorsett was reported missing, authorities executed a search warrant Tuesday where they discovered the body in the back of a trailer just east of the residence. A blanket, carpet and other objects were used to conceal the body.
An autopsy confirmed Dorsett died of a gunshot wound to the head.
Court documents indicated that Huffines and Wilson continued to drive Dorsett’s vehicle, use her cellphone and live in her residence after the murder, with the body decomposing less than 100 feet away.
The pair appeared in court Friday.
Wilson pleaded not guilty to the charge of murder.
He will receive a court-appointed attorney due to financial reasons.
A trial date of Oct. 29 was set in the case. If he is found guilty, the minimum sentence Wilson could receive is 45 years in prison.
Huffines is facing three charges related to the murder of Patricia Dorsett. Her trial is set for Sept. 10. Her court-appointed attorney is Michael Wright out of Terre Haute.
