TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — Summer may be ending, but one local organization is making sure kids get the proper sendoff back to school.
The 14th and Chestnut Community Center is hosting its first ‘Summer Fun Day’ from 11:00 a.m. to 3 p.m. on August 6.
Face painting, food and several games will be offered.
Donations like food and money are being accepted. Residents are encouraged to drop off those items at 1403 Chestnut Street or by calling 812-232-3126. Volunteers are still needed.
“We’re trying to help with any barriers families have. Whether it’s clothes, food, school supplies, or whatever the barrier is we try to help people fill it. We feel like the center being here is such a great need,” Director Connor Scanlon, said.
The club offers various services year round including after-school and summer programs.
“The need is great and there’s never enough so we feel it’s really important we get to be a staple here with the community center. We feel like, without us, we’d be greatly missed because we do get to make an impact,” Scanlon added.
