I’m going to show you how to make an anemometer. An anemometer is an instrument the WTWO meteorologists use to measure the wind.
Here’s what you need to build your anemometer.
You’re going to need four cupcake liners. A needle or pin. Some thumbtacks, a spool and two cardboard strips. Make certain your cardboard strips have notches, you’ll see why. You’ll also need a pencil.
Let’s put this together. Start with the base. Place the spool on the table and insert the pencil in the spool.
Now, take the cardboard strips, and remember those notches. Put the thumbtacks in the end of the cardboard strips, securing the cupcake liners you’ll end up with four cupcake liners facing outward. It forms a “T.” Now push the pin into the pencil eraser.
A look from the top. See the “T” and how the cups are facing? The faster the wind blows, the faster the cupcake liners spin.
