After the tornado tore through Violet Tally’s property, her family came together to help restore her home brick by brick.
“My kids have been great. And my cousins and nieces and nephews and all that’s come and helped. They’re working hard at it.
Tally’s daughter, DeeNiece Huffman says coming to her mother’s aid was easy for her family to do.
“She’s getting later in years, so you know, she does what she can. She’s taught us to do the same,” Huffman said.
Just around the corner on Crowe Road, …the Jackson family also faced devastation from the tornado. “It came through so fast, I never had time to absorb it until it was over,’” Larry Jackson said.
Jackson’s neighbors, whose property was spared in the storm, came immediately to offer a helping hand.
My first instinct was to come out and start checking on neighbors and come up here and check on Larry. Saw the amount of damage he had and had just been trying to check on him,” said Aaron Norris.
His 11-year-old son Clayton also helped out.
“If our house was damaged and his was fine he would have helped us,” he said. Though both homeowners still have a way to go before things are back as they were, they’re thankful for support along the way.
“I got the best neighbors in the world,” said Jackson.
Both Huffman and Jackson lost two barns on their properties and they plan to do some partial rebuilding.
