FARMERSBURG, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — Update: As of 3:20 p.m WIN Energy REMC has restored power to all but 3 of their customers. Duke Energy is reporting an outage of 21 customers in the Terre Haute area.
Original: WIN Energy REMC is reporting that as of 8:30 a.m. more than 450 customers are still without power after stormy weather and strong winds rolled through the area early Thursday morning.
WIN Energy REMC Chief Operating Officer Leslie Beard said that one of the outages affecting the most customers should be restored by about 9:30 a.m. That outage is affecting the business area near Walmart in Sullivan as well as about 403 customers.
Beard stated that the outages are due to multiple broken electric poles in the area due to what the company believed to be wind damage. Beard added that the issues began at around 3 a.m. and crews have been out working to repair damage ever since.
Duke Energy is also reporting outages around the Wabash Valley, as of 8:30 a.m. the Duke Energy outage map was reporting 103 customers without power in the Terre Haute area, 37 in the Clinton area, and a handful of customers without power scattered in the surrounding towns.
