TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) – Local law enforcement and firefighters are getting ready to battle it out in the name of charity.
We got a look at the cars on Wednesday that will be used in the second annual Valley Clash.
The smash derby featured only law enforcement last year, but this time, fire departments will also be taking part.
Last year’s champs, the Vigo County Sheriff’s Office, are confident law enforcement will take home the trophy, but the fire departments hope to prove them wrong.
It’s a friendly competition for a good cause.
“We have a lot of fun doing this, but it’s all for charity. All the proceeds go to charity and we’re having fun helping our community, and anybody who comes out and watches is also helping our community,” says Vigo County Sheriff John Plasse.
The charities benefitting from the event are Chances and Services For Youth, Covered with Love and Happiness Bag.
The event is Monday night at 7 P.M. at the Vigo County Fairgrounds. It’s $12 per person and kids ages four and under get in free.
Also, in honor of First Responders Day, children will get the chance to meet local first responders starting at 5 P.M.
