TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) – Grants awarded Thursday will help support the arts in Terre Haute.
The City of Terre Haute and Arts Illiana announced 2019’s City Arts Grant Awards.
Mayor Duke Bennett presented $25,000 in checks to ten organizations to help arts programming and projects.
Officials with Arts Illiana say it’s important because the arts help people experience the city in different ways.
“When they have an exhibition or a music performance, they’re very aware that they want something for families to do at a very low price and they want something that’s excellent, and high quality. This is something we can brag about as a community,” says Jon Robeson, Executive Director of Arts Illiana.
Recipients include five organizations in support of 2019 arts programming: Art Spaces, Inc; Swope Art Museum; the Terre Haute Symphony Association; Community Theatre of Terre Haute; and the Terre Haute Community Band.
Meanwhile, five organizations received funding for arts projects: Linda Luebke Strings Festival; Indiana State University Community School of the Arts; Rose-Hulman Performing Arts Series; Terre Haute First Church of the Nazarene; and Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College.
