VIGO COUNTY, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — An early morning fire on I-70 eastbound near mile marker 18 shut down both lanes of traffic for a time Tuesday morning.
Indiana State Police Putnamville Post Public Information Officer Sgt. Matt Ames confirmed the fire had both eastbound lanes shut down for a time. Once the fire was extinguished the passing lane was re-opened. As of 8:20 a.m., all lanes are back open.
No injuries have been reported. According to Ames, the cause of the fire was mechanical issues. The fire departments on scene were Jackson and Posey townships.
