Terre Haute, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) – Police responded to a call about a possible hand grenade in the 600 block of Wabash Avenue early Monday morning but an explosive ordinance team from Indianapolis arrived and determined the device was actually a firework.
The area of Wabash between 6th and 7th streets had been blocked to traffic while the investigation was conducted.
From a distance, police said the device did not appear to be real, but out of an abundance of caution the area was closed until a positive confirmation was made that the item was safe.
Normal traffic flow along Wabash has resumed.
