Tabetha Smith was sentenced to 12 years in prison followed by another four years of probation Monday during a sentencing hearing.
In April of 2018, Smith was charged with neglect of a dependent resulting in death after her three-month-old son died from severe dehydration a month earlier.
According to court documents, the infant had several health issues, and was on a feeding tube. Smith removed the tube, and began bottle feeding the baby.
Despite doctors demanding she put the feeding tube back, she never did.
As part of a plea agreement, Smith pleaded guilty in May to neglect of a dependent resulting in serious bodily injury.
