Marshall had an official attempt and measuring Tuesday morning at their county courthouse.
Officials said they won’t know for sure until late September, but by the measurements, they are 2 feet bigger than the previously set record.
Since there is one already, we just have to make this one bigger. Normally if there isn’t a record set, it has to be 10 times bigger than the original object.”
Jim Bolin
Bolin also said sometimes to meet qualifications the item has to be functional.
Casey, Illinois is known for having multiple World Largest titles, and they are looking to add more.
Bolin helped create these items in both Casey and Marshall to help bring more people to small communities in Illinois.
He said among the items up for titles is a swizzle spoon, a barber’s pole, a golf club, a key and a teeter-totter.
Officials said Guinness World Records will be in both Casey and Marshall Sept. 28 to announce if they won the titles.
