WEST TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — One man is in stable condition following a weekend wreck in Vigo County.
Michael Nave of North Webster, Indiana was driving westbound on I-70 in the left lane Saturday morning when he failed to slow down for a commercial vehicle turning into a construction area to deliver supplies.
The pickup truck he was driving rear ended the commercial vehicle at a high rate of speed, according to the Vigo County Sheriff’s Department.
Nave was transported to Regional Hospital and later flown to IU Medical Center in Indianapolis where he remains in stable condition.
The driver of the commercial vehicle, Spyridon Visvardis of Oaklawn, Illinois was not injured in the crash.
Indiana State Police assisted in rerouting traffic off of I-70.
The commercial vehicle had been carrying several hundred gallons of epoxy which took time for the Haz Mat Team and Eddington wrecker service to clean up and make the interstate safe for travel.
