INDIANAPOLIS (WTWO/WAWV) – Three local schools are being recognized for great sporstmanship.
Terre Haute North Vigo High School, North Vermillion High School and Clay City High School have all received the Sportsmanship Award from the Indiana High School Athletic Association.
Only 17 schools in the state received the award. It recognizes schools for fostering good sportsmanship, citizenship and character.
“We’re more concerned about the types of individuals that leave North High School, not necessarily their win and loss record because nobody’s going to remember that, but they’re going to remember those kids that go above and beyond, those kids that made them feel worthwhile and those kids that made them feel good about what they’re doing along the way,” says Kris Painter, Athletic Director at Terre Haute North.
Each school receives a championship banner to put on display.
