TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — A total of 190 butterflies were released Friday during a ceremony in Terre Haute.
Hamilton Center’s Win Recovery hosted the released to recognize the number of lives lost to overdose everyday in the United States.
“It’s not necessarily the celebration of the overdose, but a celebration of the life of those who overdose, and bringing awareness to the impact overdose has on not only the individual or the family, but also on the community,” said Natasha Newcomb, executive director for substance abuse services.
Saturday is National Overdose Awareness Day, and September is National Recovery Month.
