TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — A couple of the new owners of the Wabash Valley Dragway say they are excited to continue the racing tradition in Terre Haute.
Race coordinator Troy Mann and head of operations Tom Grover said the dragway provides a safe and local outlet for young racers.
“To me it’s awesome, it’s a new adventure I’m interested in, because I actually started in racing years and years and years ago as a kid,” Mann said. “So anyway, I’m looking for a different part in an adventure.”
The dragway located at the Vigo County Fairgrounds will be open almost every weekend from the end of March through October.
There will be a variety of junior racing programs and memorial events with payouts as big as $10,000.
There will also be a Pink Ladies series with proceeds benefitting the American Cancer Society for breast cancer awareness.
“Excited to get to keep the track open for the community. Excited to keep a safe place for folks to come race at here in Terre Haute,” Grover said.
